Water Interest Group Activities

The Water Interest Committee activities have included:
  • a tour of the City of San Diego Pure Water demonstration facility.

  • Continued tracking of proposed legislation that could impact the exit of Fallbrook Public Utility District (FPUD) and Fallbrook Municipal Water District (RMWD) from the San Diego County Water Authority.

  • learning from Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) about the Municipal Special District Sphere of Influence and Service Review (MSR) process. LAFCO recently began the MSR for County Water Authority (CWA) and the committee will continue to track.

  • a presentation from an International Boundary Water Commission (IBWC) representative on the current status of the planned Tijuana River Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrades and expansion. 

  • regular updates on SD County Water Authority Board meetings, desalination, water and health, and proposed state legislation. 

Future areas of interest are: 

  • update on the City of San Diego Pure Water Program Phase 1 and 2  

  • the Point Loma Treatment Plant Secondary Equivalency legislation

  • researching gray water and stormwater capture and reuse regulations, and opportunities and practices among water agencies in San Diego County.
