Join our friends at AAUW along with allies from CAIR San Diego, Universidad Popular, and other concerned community groups for this important public forum on one of the region's most urgent and long-neglected environmental crises.
For decades, billions of gallons of untreated sewage, industrial waste, and trash have flowed from Tijuana, Mexico, into the Tijuana River Valley and the Pacific Ocean — triggering long-term beach closures across South Bay and San Diego, and causing serious, documented health consequences for residents, particularly schoolchildren living near affected areas.
This bi-national emergency doesn't stop at the border, and it doesn't stop at South Bay. This forum will explore how the Tijuana River blight affects communities throughout San Diego County, including North County, and will take a hard look at what our local, state, and federal officials are — and are not — doing to address this catastrophe.
A noted expert will lead the discussion, followed by Q&A.
All are welcome. — Bring a friend.
This event is free and open to the public.
